WebAs with paternity leave, employees are not guaranteed compensation during their leave, but they may qualify for the Maternity Benefit for the 26 weeks. The additional 16 weeks are not eligible for the Maternity Benefit. Employers may elect to provide some level of pay during maternity leave, which should be explained in the employment contract.
